Meal Preparation
Select-Rite has two refrigerated compartments in which bulk foods are stored in pans. At mealtime, hot foods are rethermed to serving temperature within one compartment, while cold food temperatures are maintained within the other.
During serving, hot food pans are placed on heated conduction plates built into the surface of Select-Rite. A heat lamp above the pans helps maintain heat and improves food appearance.
Tray Assembly
Select-Rite is ideal for room service applications. One staff member can take patients’ meal orders, while another assembles the trays. Or, in congregate settings, an optional service shelf turns Select-Rite into a cafeteria line, so that patients can see and select from the variety of entrée choices. Cold items – pre-portioned foods and beverages – are served directly from the cold chamber.
Serving Locations
Select-Rite brings the cafeteria to your patients. Because Select-Rite is mobile, it can be used in a variety of locations, depending upon your unique needs:
- It can be stationed permanently on a patient floor or other dining setting. An optional dolly transports cold food in pans, which are transferred to the hot and cold chambers of Select-Rite prior to rethermalization.
- Bulk food pans can be transferred to Select-Rite in the kitchen, and prior to mealtime, Select-Rite can be rolled to a patient floor or other serving location.
- It can be used for unscheduled meal occasions, such as catering, special events, or meals-on-wheels programs.
